Finance and Entrepreneurship in the Circular Economy – 23 May 2017, Amsterdam

The objective of the workshop is to discuss business and funding models for startups in the field of the Circular Economy, which help them to bridge the often-cited “valley of death”. While many of the challenges of such companies are not different from those of other innovation-oriented startups, a number of aspects are quite specific. This relates, for example, to the social impact they generate, which does not fit the conventional return-on-investment logic.

The event follows up on a first workshop on the same subject matter which took place on 25 October 2016 at the premises of the European Commission in Brussels. It will zoom in on the most important issues that had been identified at this previous workshop and take them further. Ultimately, the objective of this activity is to produce a RECREATE Policy Brief with concrete recommendations to the European Commission and other policy makers.
